Give People Some BREATHING Room!
In a society where our government is corrupt, our economy is plummeting, and children are starving. Where there is depression, suicide, and other upsetting things that should be worried about. One of the biggest issues people have is when they come face to face with someone who is different. In this particular case, I'll be talking about the LGBT community. Homosexuality in whatever shape or form you want to look at it, has been around for ages. Since the Greek and Roman eras up until now; same sex romance is not something to be shocked by. So why is it that we are so dumbfounded and sometimes even disgusted by the thought of it? Simply because it is different and weird and we obviously don't understand it. It's kind of sad really to think that in a time and place where we are deemed the more intelligent species, that we get so frazzled and riled up by just seeing someone be happy for who they are.
Lets just cut to the chase....bullying and discrimination has led to depression, anxiety, self loathing and yes...even suicide. In fact one of the main leaders of the "It Gets Better" series on YouTube killed himself a couple of weeks ago, due to the fact that he couldn't take the pressure anymore. He couldn't take being ridiculed and discriminated. It's kind of sick to think that we as a society have the ability to push someone so far over the edge, to the point that they want to take their own lives. With all that said, these circumstances can make it really hard for a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender individual to "come out." Fear not my friends, no matter what they say, you are beautiful how you are. Should someone say something off color to you, you should ask them if its okay you discriminate them due to their eye color, if they have freckles, or by their nationality. We are all different, why is that such a shock?
We are facing a separation issue here. Everyone is separated by age, color, race, monetary status, and now sexual orientation. When we should all just be looking at one another as an individual. That's how a country stands strong together...is by uniting as one.
Don't be ashamed of who you are. If you're lucky enough to find love and happiness in this world we live in, consider yourself blessed. If you're one of those people who hates another person for their happiness, maybe it is YOU who you should be analyzing. Because there is obviously something you're missing in your life that makes you envy these people so much. My name is Jennifer Pennington, and I am PROUD to be bisexual. Blessed be folks & Thanks for reading!

Every time I read hubs like this, I am reminded of two years ago when Marie Osmond's 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil jumped to his death from the window of his apartment and was found dead on the street outside the building. He suffered from depression, was gay, and Mormon. A lethal combination! You would think that by now humans would have evolved enough to be done with hate crimes. We can send a rocket to the moon, but we can’t get along with our fellow man! Great Hub! Voting it up!
